Compliance with a code of practice should give a provider of a general-purpose AI model a presumption of compliance with the legal obligations under this Regulation. Failure to comply with a code of practice, or with additional measures addressing identified risks, may have an impact on the reputation of the provider, especially where the provider serves business and consumer markets. Depending on the identified risk, failure to comply with a code of practice might signal to other actors and to other regulators relevant under Union and national law that an AI system's compliance with legal requirements may be at risk.
