The AI Office should monitor and facilitate the development of codes of practice for providers of general-purpose AI models. Those codes of practice should be developed in close cooperation and dialogue with relevant stakeholders, drawing on international approaches. The Commission may approve such codes of practice with a view to supporting compliance with the obligations of providers of general-purpose AI models, and may request amendments. Furthermore, compliance with such codes of practice should be considered as one way to demonstrate compliance with the provider obligations under this Regulation and the absence of compliance may be considered as an indication of potential non-compliance, thus serving as a basis for market surveillance and enforcement actions.
