The AI Office should be established within the Commission. Its tasks should include monitoring, providing guidance on, and enforcing compliance with the obligations of providers of general-purpose AI models laid down in this Regulation. The AI Office should also monitor the development, training and application of general-purpose AI models with a view to identifying potential systemic risks. The AI Office should, in conjunction with the relevant national competent authorities, be responsible for ensuring compliance with this Regulation, including in relation to prohibited AI practices, as concerns general-purpose AI systems used directly by deployers.
